Outcomes
For Japara (who originally developed this project) we designed the architecture, interiors and wayfinding for its 105-bed aged care and seniors living community in Mount Waverley. At the outset of the project, we were also entrusted with undertaking early feasibility studies and liaising with local town planners.
Clever layout complements streetscape & surrounds
From the street, the building complements neighbouring homes, thanks to a staggered design that gives the illusion of a series of facades rather than one imposing block. Inside, we’ve capitalised on the nearby nature reserve by positioning rooms to make the most of those tranquil views.
Elsewhere, private courtyards give residents that same sense of connection with nature. Meanwhile, timber, stone and neutral shades are among the materials and colours that further help blend exterior and interior spaces.
Contemporary finishes and welcoming design
Marble-look panelling, combined with a generous use of timber, gives the interiors a modern feel. This fresh approach, together with a clever use of consistent colours and finishes to sign-post various zones, makes the building feel vibrant and welcoming.
We understood that generations of families need to feel at home here. Therefore, our design integrates spaces for residents’ children, grandchildren and friends to all enjoy together. The inclusion of a café and private zones for dining make this possible.
