Outcomes

The Stonnington Depot (waste transfer station) is at the forefront of sustainability including water conservation, solar energy and stormwater quality treatment.

Spowers worked closely with the Stonnington City Council to design the depot, which features a resource recovery centre and transfer facility for household rubbish and a drop-off area for other domestic waste, or ‘hard rubbish’.

The waste transfer station also includes a resource recovery area for domestic waste, which uses a saw-tooth wall design with six bulk bins and designated areas for separation of recyclable materials.

The Waste transfer station was specifically designed to include a waking floor and compaction equipment for bulk transfer in trailers to landfill.
