1200m2 of refurbishment works to convert existing academic staff accomodation into a focussed Telehealth training facility collocated with a GP clinic and consulting suites

Location

Bundoora campus, VIC

Outcomes

Increased utilization of Telehealth by health practitioners has been one of the most rapid changes in the mode of healthcare delivery in Australian history.

Spowers worked alongside LTU to deliver formal and practical training facilities for their students and practising clinicians, with adjacent observation classroom and breakout spaces for student activities.

Whilst the primary function of this facility is teaching and training, the space will also be bookable to practitioners in the GP Clinic next door and has therefore been designed to medical industry standards.

Key considerations for this project were fully integrated technology, audio visual, acoustics and flexible furniture to streamline the process allowing the focus to be on patient and providing an equitable experience to a face-to-face consultant.

Understanding the intensity of the Telehealth delivery model, a calming environment has been formed with breakout spaces including connection to nature offering respite to screen based technology.
